Hi, I’m Jay El Dee! I’m a neurodivergent intelli-pop artist and award-winning songwriter crafting musical narratives from my Wisconsin studio. Whether you’re finding yourself or getting over yourself, I make music that’s honest, melodic, and unafraid to dig deep.
My creative roots run deep. My mom, opera singer and voice teacher Amy Cofield, and my dad, a longtime leader in band instrument marketing, filled my childhood with music. From harmonizing with my sister on the front porch to soaking in 90s pop hooks and the raw rock ballads of the 2000s, I learned to channel my emotions into song. Those Midwest bonfires and bedroom boombox days still echo through the indie alt-pop artist I am today.
Family continues to be at the heart of my sound. My husband, Austin, is my co-producer, studio musician, and mixing/mastering partner—our creative synergy has been growing since the day we met. Together, we shape songs that balance nostalgic undertones with fresh, innovative production.
Along the way, I’ve been humbled by recognition on international stages: Female Songwriter of the Year at the International Singer-Songwriter Association Awards and a Top 8 placement for Songwriter of the Year at the Elite Music Awards. Critics describe my music as “well written, vibrantly produced, and emotionally relevant,” with a voice “outstanding and perfectly at the service of the lyrics.”
At the heart of it all, I’m just a songwriter devoted to growth, always chasing the next lyric, the next melody, the next chance to connect. My promise is to keep making music that resonates with honesty and heart—for every listener navigating the messy, beautiful journey of self-discovery.
